On the need for a reformed educational system and improved access to technological innovation in the country, the Swedish government as part of effort to deepen bilateral relations with Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to partner Nigeria in developing a robust educational and digital learning system.
Gràns Carl-Michael, Sweden Ambassador to Nigeria, made this known in the sidelines of the inauguration of ‘SchoolTry’ Initiative in Abuja. The epoch event was attended by officials of Representatives from the Presidency, National Assembly, Bayelsa State Government, Swedish Ambassador and Fidelity Bank Plc.
The SchoolTry programme a Swedish Education Technology company in Nigeria which aims to proffer solutions to educational challenges in Nigeria as well as promoting the country’s digital e-learning platform.
Mr. Grans noted that the Swedish government was seeking opportunities that will increase economic relations and trade volumes between Sweden and Nigeria, hence the establishment of the SchoolTry educational platform.
According to the Ambassador,“Education is a national responsibility for Nigeria as it is for Sweden. I think e-learning is for the future and it is developing very fast. So, we can just guess what comes in five or 10 years, when it comes to digital learning, I think this is an area we can cooperate and proffer solutions to educational challenges as well”.
The Swedish envoywho decried the current challenges currently facing the Nigeria’s educational system, noted that the digitization of the country’s education sector was key in granting education to the entire population.
“It is obvious that Nigeria has challenges when it comes to the big population and granting education to the entire population. But the digitisation of the education sector of the country is key in creating a platform for solutions to the challenges often faced”. He said. Mr. Grans further reiterated that for Nigeria’s economy to grow in line with its population size, there was the need to engage people on digitization as blueprint to achieve meaningful growth.
