President Buhari who made this call virtually during the induction programme, held at the Headquarters of the National Intelligence Agency Abuja, tasked the Ambassadors-designate to exhibit exemplary conduct in their assignments. According to the President, “You have all been nominated and appointed after rigorous selection process, with due consideration to your personal and professional qualities. The primary responsibilities of Nigeria in the countries you are posted rest on you. I urge you to go out and serve with uttermost dedication and pride”.
Also speaking during the induction, the Minister, GeofferyOnyeama congratulated the Ambassadors-designate on appointments well deserved. He reminded the delegates that in the foreign policy thrust of President Buhari’s administration, good neighborliness in concentric circles, should be the framework for diplomatic constructive engagement with all countries near and far.
The induction was delivered by key Nigerian diplomatic experts and major stake holders, including retired Ambassadors, heads of relevant government agencies and representatives of organized private sectors.
Other newly appointed Ambassadors are expected to proceed to their posts as soon as confirmation is secured from the host countries.
