In an effort to boost trade and diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau as well as, good neighbourliness within the West African Region, President UmaruSissoco of Guinea Bissau recently made a 2-day visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.
At a strategic meeting held during a one-on-one dinner at the presidential villa, both Presidents expressed commitment to deepen the diplomatic relations between the two countries to align with economic priorities of both Nigeria and Guinea Bissau.
President Buhari described relationship between the two countries as excellent, adding that the President is a brother and a true friend of Nigeria, with a good vision for his country and its people.
In his response, President Umaro said the trajectory of bilateral relations between the two countries portent not only a bright future for both nations, but also the entire West African sub-region.
Emphasizing that Guinea Bissau had been on the agenda of ECOWAS in the last twenty years, he expressed happiness that the country no longer constitute a threat to neighbouring states,
He said this period of Ramadan provides the best time for the visit which he called “thank you visit” as he expressed his country’s appreciation to the President’s efforts which enabled his country to consistently appear on the agenda of ECOWAS in the last twenty years.
