The Bangladesh Glorious Victory Day is an annual celebration of the victory of the allied forces over the Pakistani forces in the Bangladesh Liberation war, which gained them their independence. The 47th anniversary of the Glorious Day of Bangladesh which was celebrated at the High Commission of Bangladesh in Abuja was a true reflection of the strength the people Bangladesh showed during their war of independence.
It was a two part event. The first part of the event included, hosting of the national flag with national anthem by the High Commission of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan. A special prayer was also offered for the departed souls of the martyrs, Father of the Nation-Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyred family members and for the continued progress and prosperity of the country.
While the second part included a cultural discussion forum, a video documentary on glorious life of the father of the Nation, Bangabandu and the War of Liberation were screened and massages from the country’s President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out.
Speaking at the event, the High Commissioner, Mr. Ahsan paid a tribute to the father of the nation, the martyrs and freedom fighters whose sacrifices and support led the country to a final victory. The event was indeed a colourful one and the diplomatic community was treated to traditional music and cuisine of the Bangladesh people.
